River Valley technologies was set up by Kaveh Bazargan thanks to his passion for improving the communication of research

Kaveh is a physicist, and the first person awarded a PhD in display holography. He has published several papers and granted two patents in his field of research. He was one of the first scientists in the world to use TeX (1983). During this period, Kaveh began to understand the inefficiencies in research publication.

Kaveh continues to be involved with the business. He provides thought leadership within the industry and is our technical lead. He loves coming up with new ideas to drive the industry forward.

All business operations are headed up by Maryam who joined the business in 2013.

Maryam has been involved in digital media since 1997 delivering digital product and business strategy to some of the early “Dot-coms”. She is a pioneer of in-game advertising and has been successfully running digital and media companies for 20 years. She brings creativity, lateral thinking and a fresh perspective to River Valley’s business approach. 

Our team has over 1,000 collective years of experience in scholarly publishing and loves to engage with clients to create effective technology solutions. We have teams in Europe and India and are proud to have one of the lowest industry employee attrition rates with an average service length of over 14 years. The result is continuity for our clients, and an in-depth working knowledge of our systems and of the publishing industry.
